Moreover, Banpu aims that the widespread use of advanced innovation in clean energy will help drive Thailand towards a smart city future.
Mrs. Somruedee Chaimongkol, Chief Executive Officer of Banpu Public Company Limited said: “To continue implementing Banpu’s Greener & Smarter strategy, our Energy Technology business strives to select clean energy innovations that are affordable, reliable and environmentally friendly so that we can offer the best Smart City Solutions to our clients from various fields, and so that all sectors can take part in driving Thailand towards a sustainable and smart city future. Our smart city solutions range from solar microgrid systems, Energy Storage System (ESS), Energy Management System (EMS), Electric Vehicle and EV charging stations. With our expertise and experience in providing total energy solutions in various countries, Banpu is confident that the installations of solar energy system and other smart energy solutions at Rugby School Thailand will help accelerate the school’s journey towards becoming a Smart Campus that uses energy efficiently while promoting learning through technology and innovation.”
In the first phase, Banpu has installed solar energy systems to support future microgrid system installations at Rugby School Thailand. With the current production capacity of approximately 1 megawatts, it is projected that within a year, the school will be able to reduce more than 740 tons of carbondioxide in the atmosphere, equal to the planting of more than 43,000 trees, reduce the consumption of around 1.5 million liter of water and save approximately 4.3 million baht of electricity consumption. In addition to installing solar systems on the school’s rooftop and parking lot, Banpu has also provided other smart energy solutions such as Solar Kiosks, On-grid and Off-grid systems, which are connected to either power generated from grid or solar energy, and Solar Chair which uses 100% of solar energy installed in the rest area where parents and guests can charge batteries for mobile phones or smart devices from solar energy. Also, EVs such as electric scooters and electric Tuk-Tuk are offered to teachers to accommodate their commutes around the campus.
Mrs. Taya Teepsuwan, Chief Executive Officer of Rugby School Thailand said “Rugby school Thailand focuses on developing a comprehensive education system under the Smart Campus vision by encouraging our students to value environmental conservation as well as incorporating technological innovations into our resource management efforts for optimal benefits. Banpu’s solar installations will not only help accelerate Rugby School’s journey towards becoming a Smart Campus but also promote renewable energy use among the students through hands-on experience and ignite the creative spark in the younger generations to develop innovative energy solutions in the future.”
In the next phase, Banpu plans to develop and introduce other smart city solutions that cater to the needs of students and teachers in order to promote Rugby School Thailand’s Smart Campus vision. In addition, the next phase of smart city solutions will help the school manage energy use more efficiently which is a fundamental step in driving Thailand towards a smart city future.
During renewable energy week at Rugby School Thailand, Banpu showcased and demonstrated a variety of smart city solutions such as mobile solar microgrid systems, EV cars, waste management systems and Smart Pole with the aim of educating and inspiring teachers, students and visitors to the exhibition.
